Did the world get more polarised this year or did the Overton Window (the boundaries of conversation topics acceptable to the mainstream population at any given time) just get wider?
I prefer the latter explanation. We all live in echo chambers, bound and defined by our own belief systems, but if we are not open to engaging on topics of conversation outside our echo chamber, we have less chance of adding value to society's determination of what is and what is not acceptable.
I can't claim (or hope) to be an expert on how or why the boundaries of acceptable conversation topics might be extending in 2025, I leave that to experts like Lauren Branston and David Grayson and the team at the Institute of Business Ethics together with Yasmin Crowther and the Polecat team. What I can claim - with objective, data-driven intelligence from PolecatX - is the ability to form a more informed view of what is going on in the world in 2025 that goes beyond my own echo chamber.
